Getting Started with iDiffer
Get up and running with iDiffer in just a few minutes
Installation
System Requirements
- macOS 13.0 (Ventura) or later
- Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) or Intel processor
- 4GB RAM minimum (8GB recommended)
- 100MB available disk space
Download and Install
1. Download iDiffer from our website
2. Open the downloaded DMG file
3. Drag iDiffer to your Applications folder
4. Right-click iDiffer in Applications and select "Open" (first time only)
First Launch
When you first launch iDiffer, you'll be greeted with a welcome screen. Here's what to do:
1. Select Your Project Directory
Click "Select Directory" and choose the folder containing your code project. This should be the same directory you're working with in Claude Code.
2. Grant File Access
macOS will ask for permission to access your files. Click "Allow" to let iDiffer monitor changes.
3. Initial Scan
iDiffer will scan your directory and show all files. Files with recent changes will be highlighted.
Connecting to Claude
To enable AI-powered features, you'll need to connect your Anthropic account:
Steps to Connect
1. Open Settings (⌘,) or click the gear icon
2. Go to the "API" tab
3. Enter your Anthropic API key
4. Click "Save" - your key is stored securely in macOS Keychain
Basic Workflow
Here's the typical workflow with Claude Code and iDiffer:
The Perfect Development Loop
1. Code with Claude: Use Claude Code in your terminal as usual
2. Monitor in iDiffer: See real-time updates as files change
3. Review Changes: Click any file to see detailed diffs
4. Get AI Insights: Use "Summarize" for AI-powered explanations
5. Selective Control: Keep good changes, revert unwanted ones
